Welcome to Equine Unwind Therapeutics!
I specialize in deep tension release and nervous system focused bodywork. My work helps horses that have been medically cleared but still feel off. When veterinary care, training, and other modalities haven't fully resolved the issue, I focus on the compensation patterns the body holds onto - helping horses move and feel like themselves again.

Hi, I'm Renee, founder of Equine Unwind Therapeutics.
I've always been drawn to helping horses feel at ease in their bodies, because I know how much it changes everything, from their movement to their attitude. I've seen first-hand how much behavior and performance can change when physical discomfort is addressed. What looks like resistance, anxiety, or attitude is often rooted in pain or tension.
I have been there myself. With my own horses, I've faced frustration of training or behavior issues that didn't seem to resolve no matter what I tried. It wasn't until I started looking deeper, beyond behavior and into the body, that I realized that my horses' discomfort was the root of so many challenges. That experience drives everything I do today.
Using deep tension and nervous system led bodywork, I work to uncover what's really going on beneath the surface to bring lasting relief. I help and release the physical restrictions that hold your horse back and impact their comfort, performance and behavior.
Whether your horse is struggling with tension, a mystery lameness, or behavior that training alone hasn't resolved, I can help your horse overcome those physical barriers.

Many of the horses I see are not overly lame, yet something isn't adding up. Subtle resistance. performance changes. Behavioral shifts. Training plateaus. These signs often point toward deeper compensation patterns and protective tension within the body.
This work is designed to uncover those layers so your horse can return to more comfortable, efficient movement.
You've likely done everything right: you've had the vet out; the diagnostics look clean and yet your horse still feels off. That's often where hidden tension, compensation patterns, and nervous system overwhelm live and that doesn't show up on imaging but absolutely shows up in how your horse moves.
My work is centered on helping horses release the restrictions behind those signs so they can move, behave and perform with greater ease.
Deep Tension & Nervous System Release Bodywork is the foundation of my approach. By working with the horse's nervous system to create real, lasting change. When the horse feels safe enough to release protective patterns, deep restrictions soften, range of motion improves and movement becomes more fluid and efficient.
This is not a one-size-fits-all session or a typical "just muscle" massage. I work with your horse, staying under the horse's natural bracing reflex, allowing the horse to actively release deep seated tension and stress. Each appointment is tailored to what your horse is communicating in the moment, allowing the body to decompress, reorganize and function the way it was designed to.
I've seen horses shift from bracing through every ride to stretching into contact again. From feeling subtly uneven to traveling with confidence. From inconsistent performance to showing up with comfort and strength.
If you're looking for changes you can see and feel in the saddle, on the ground, and in your horse's overall wellbeing, this is where those shifts begin.
This work is designed to create meaningful, lasting changes in the body, not temporary surface-level relief.
Many horses develop compensation patterns and nervous system bracing over months or years, which means true change often happens in layers through consistent care and owner involvement.
While some horses show noticeable shifts after one session, the horses who improve the most are typically those receiving regular, consistent bodywork over time.

This is the foundation of my work. Gentle, force-free bodywork targeting your horse's nervous system to release deep tension and restrictions, ideal for persistent discomfort or resistance. These sessions focus on releasing deep tension & bracing patterns, addressing whole body compensation and supporting correct, natural movement.
Common indicators that your horse could benefit from therapy:

Renee's calm demeanor and gentle touch put my horse, Copper, at ease! I knew he felt better with her Deep tension and nervous system sessions. I appreciate all that she also taught me going forward to keep him happy and pain free.

I highly recommend Renee and Equine Unwind Therapeutics. After losing my horse of 30 years, I purchased an 8-year-old mare who seemed temperamental. After a couple months, a friend recommended reaching out to Renee. I saw a notable change in movement & behavior after 3 sessions (and in her locking stifles) and continued improvement in behaviors and on the trail over the next several months. I think it's easy to think that our horse is just moody, but what Renee taught me is that my horse had pretty significant tension in her poll and hind end that, as released created more of the trail buddy I was looking for. I your horse seems grumpy for no reason, call Renee.

Renee did amazing with my horse, Hagen! I had no idea what Advanced Masterson Method bodywork and nervous system support was. I was, naturally, a little skeptical about how good the results would be. Only using light touch to help a horse's soreness isn't the norm of what you are usually taught. I wanted to give it a try and she came out. After listening so intently to all the problems Hagen had been having, she gave him a 2-hour session. Not only was the tenderness in his stifle and groin gone, but his demeanor was completely different. 10/10 recommend!

We thought my horse would nap a bit, yesterday, after Renee's work on her, but not only did she not sleep, she was probably the happiest I've seen her since getting her this last March! Today she is running, kicking up her heels and so light in her general mood. It's pretty incredible because Misty has been pretty shut down and/or fairly tense. The Advanced Masterson Method bodywork & nervous system techniques are making her the horse I've been hoping she'd be. Can't wait for your next visit, Renee!!!

Thank you, Renee Martinson at Equine Unwind Therapeutics for your knowledge and dedication. My horses always feel better after your visit with your Magnawave PEMF and your magic hands!
My gelding has suffered from joint disease his whole life. With PEMF he has really perked up! He also has allergies, which causes his nasal passages to swell. After on short session to his face the swelling disappeared within hours! I love how good this makes him feel!
~Suzi
OMG!!! Totally different horse this morning! She is standing quietly by herself. Thank you!!!!!

Renee has worked wonders for both of my horses and my dog with her expertise in PEMF, kinesiology taping & equine massage for a variety of ailments. Her deep understanding of equine behavior allows her to identify subtle issues that might go unnoticed in day-to-day routines. She suggested I get my mare checked for ulcers, which she did have, and after following veterinary advice and continuing PEMF sessions, the second scope showed not only the ulcers were gone, but the stomach tissue looked significantly healthier. Renee rearranged her schedule to do an emergency PEMF & kinesiology taping on my foundered pony. The PEMF and taping gave her relief the first day!

There are not enough stars available to rate Renee. I tried PEMF in a last-ditch effort to address my horse's behavior and old injury. My horse has a history of abuse and is anxious. I warned her that he probably wouldn't let her place the pemf coils on him. Somehow, she pulled it off. My horse has had 6 sessions with Renee and I've seen a difference in his demeanor. Both my horses drop their heads and enjoy their day with Renee. As other reviews have stated, Renee truly cares for every horse she treats. I'm thankful my hurting unicorn led me to Renee!

My horses love PEMF and Renee!!! They get an extra pep in their step after their sessions. Renee uses Advanced Masterson Method techniques as well, finding all the sore spots. If you haven't tried Equine Unwind Therapeutics, now is the time. Your horses will love you for it!
~Suzi
Today was one of our biggest victories! My horse, who we were told wasn't safe to work or ride any more because of his degenerative disc disease & spinal cord compression, ran today! WE have been doing PEMF sessions once a week for the last month. We noticed his back legs separating again, versus close together. Today he lunged and he had no crossing over of his hind legs! 10/10 recommend Renee! She saved our 24-year-old horse!
~Stephanie
My horse, Russel, got a visit from the PT lady this week. He got a session of PEMF and kinesiology taping. He has been feeling great ever since! I highly recommend Renee for anyone looking for equine therapy in Arizona!
